George Sowden was born in Leeds, England, in 1942. From 1960 to 1968, he studied architecture at Gloucester College of Art. After graduating, he moved to Milan in 1970, where he worked as a design consultant for Olivetti and met Ettore Sottsass.
In 1980, he founded the studio SowdenDesign together with the designer Nathalie du Pasquier, his future wife; the studio is still active today. A year later, in 1981, Sowden was one of the founding members of the group Memphis.
In the 1990s, he increasingly specialized in the design of electronic devices. George Sowden continues to live and work in Milan and is considered one of the defining figures of postmodern design.
I acquired the computer from a collector. Everything works. There is one peculiarity: the battery compartment on the bottom has a yellow flap, which was replaced with an original spare part. The blue flap is also still present, but it doesn't stay closed properly.
