The first volume contains a text by Deyan Sudji that covers Kuramata's entire life and the radical changes he experienced in Japan. It also presents a selection of Kuramata's essays and writings. The second volume is a catalogue raisonné showcasing the more than 600 pieces of furniture, products, and interiors that Kuramata designed during his far too short life.
Deyan Sudjic was director of the Design Museum London from 2006 to 2020. The book was created in close collaboration with Mieko Kuramata, the wife of Shiro Kuramata, and contains many previously unpublished documents from the private archive.
