SHIRO KURAMATA - Deyan Sudjic in the Phaidon publishing house

New edition of the definitive monograph (the first edition was published in 2013) on Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata with a new introduction by author Deyan Sudjic. This highly acclaimed, first monograph on the hugely influential Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata (1934-1991) is a two-volume title that presents his entire captivating and idiosyncratic oeuvre in a stunning, specially designed acrylic slipcase.

The first volume contains a text by Deyan Sudji that covers Kuramata's entire life and the radical changes he experienced in Japan. It also presents a selection of Kuramata's essays and writings. The second volume is a catalog raisonné that presents the more than 600 pieces of furniture, products and interiors that Kuramata designed in the course of his all too short life.

Deyan Sudjic was Director of the DESIGN MUSEUM London from 2006 - 2020. The book was created in close collaboration with Mieko Kuramata, the wife of Shiro Kuramata, and contains many previously unpublished documents from the private archive.
