Hubert Griemert & Gerhard Kardow, piston vase for KPM Berlin

The flask vase is one of Hubert Griemert's most famous designs for KPM Manufaktur. At the beginning of 1956, KPM produced the small flask vases 1 (model and tax number 19235/5,8855) for the first time with a leaf net decoration designed by Gerhard Kadow. Gerhard Kadow was a Bauhaus student of Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky. In addition to the white vase, the Piston 1 was also produced in basalt porcelain.

Form Design Hubert Griemert, 1953
Decoration by Gerhard Kardow 1955

I currently have three options:

Model Kolbenform Vase 1, height approx. 18.6 cm, model design Hubert Griemert, white porcelain, Zepter mark in underglaze blue before 1962

Model Kolbenform Vase 1 with leaf net decoration, height approx. 18.6 cm, model design by Hubert Griemert, relief decoration by Gerhard Kadow 1955,white porcelain relief, Zepter mark in underglaze blue before 1962

Model Piston-shaped vase 1 with leaf network engraving, height approx. 17.6 cm, model design by Hubert Griemert, relief decoration by Gerhard Kadow 1955, basalt mass or basalt porcelain, mark embossed on unglazed base

* Basalt porcelain, as it is known, gets its deep brown, almost black color from the addition of manganese, copper, and iron oxide, and is almost always used unglazed.

Both vases are, of course, first choice and in excellent condition.
