Patricia Urquiola Spirogira bowls for ALESSI

Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain, and studied architecture and design at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Politecnico di Milano, where she graduated under Achille Castiglioni. Early in her career, she worked as an assistant lecturer in Milan and Paris and was responsible for De Padova's product development office, working closely with Vico Magistretti. In 1996, she took over as head of the Lissoni Associati design group.
Spirogira is a series of steel wire baskets designed for ALESSI that reinterprets traditional metal wire in a modern and playful way. The elegant, radially shaped pieces are made from a single continuous stainless steel wire. The citrus basket and the large table centerpiece can be combined with each other.
