U03 Portaagrumi a filo/Citrus basket and PU04 Centrotavola a filo, Centerpiece, the large bowl 2011, Spirogira (Spiro = spiral / Gira = turns)

Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain, and studied architecture and design at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Politecnico di Milano, where she graduated under Achille Castiglioni. Early in her career, she worked as an assistant lecturer in Milan and Paris and was responsible for the product development office of De Padova – in close collaboration with Vico Magistretti. In 1996, she took over the management of the design group Lissoni Associati.

Spirogira is a series of steel wire baskets designed for ALESSI, reinterpreting traditional metal wire in a modern and playful way. The elegant, radially shaped pieces are made from a single, continuous stainless steel wire. The citrus basket and the large centerpiece can be combined.

An original, it's definitely used, but the wire shows no signs of wear.
